Launch of Dutch iGaming market delayed by technical fault in self-exclusion system

Online gambling operators that managed to secure a licence by the country’s regulator were expecting to start serving players as of today.

This was not meant to be, however, as the Dutch regulator, de Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) told the 10 online operators they may not yet onboard players due to a “technical malfunction” with the  Centraal Uitsluiting Kansspelen (Cruks).

“Due to a technical malfunction of Cruks, it is not possible for online providers, such as Holland Casino and Toto, to allow players on their websites,” it said.

“The cause of the malfunction has been identified. We are working hard to fix it.”

Land-based operators, also obligated to sign up to Cruks from today, are reportedly unaffected.

The regulator informed stakeholders that it expects a further update on the situation at 8PM CEST.
